"Hanukkah Harriet" Debuts Dec. 14

The Creative Writing program hosts staged reading of "Hanukkah Harriet" from Theatre Arts Visiting Assistant Professor Aaron Ricciardi, Dec. 14 at Parker Theatre The play follows Shayna, the only Jewish kid in her class, would give anything to not have to celebrate Hanukkah and instead celebrate her favorite thing in the world: Christmas! But this all changes when she is visited by the spirit of a bubby from the Old Country, who takes her on a journey through Jewish history, large and small, and teaches her the value of tradition and of miracles, large and small.

Sam Moran, A Walking Miracle

Sam Moran of Manorville, New York was diagnosed with a rare and potentially fatal disease, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, at 19 years old last year. became paralyzed from the neck down and eventually re-learned how to use basic motor functions. Less than a year from her diagnosis, she returned to the field and starred for the Hawks field hockey program this past fall as their starting center back.
