"A Year with Frog and Toad" debuts Nov. 19 & 20

Senior Katie Gudzik '23 (Theatre Arts) makes her directorial debut with a staged reading of the musical adaptation inspired by the children's classic. The show serves as her senior honors thesis, and is supported by a fall 2022 Academic Year Undergraduate Research Experience (AYURE) grant.

The College chapter of the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) held Halloween-themed, door-to-door food drive Trick or Eat to benefit the campus food pantry. Local residents were encouraged to provide non-perishable food items at the door.

Sam Moran, A Walking Miracle

Sam Moran of Manorville, New York was diagnosed with a rare and potentially fatal disease, Guillain-Barre Syndrome, at 19 years old last year. became paralyzed from the neck down and eventually re-learned how to use basic motor functions. Less than a year from her diagnosis, she returned to the field and starred for the Hawks field hockey program this past fall as their starting center back.

SUNY New Paltz extends congratulations to Ian Hanley, Canis Speranza, and faculty mentor Chemistry Assistant Professor Miles Wilklow-Marnell for presenting their research at the Northeast Regional American Chemical Society Meeting in Rochester! They spent three days attending research presentations, discussing their own research with other scientists, and rubbing elbows with big names in organometallic chemistry.

Associate Professor Alex Peh Performance, Oct. 18

Pianist and Director of Piano Studies Alex Peh performs a solo recital celebrating the piano and all of its myriad adaptations throughout the world. Featured on this concert will be New Paltz premieres of new compositions "Red Nines" and "Padetha" by composers Anna Clyne and Ne Myo Aung. Woven throughout this performance will be an ethnographic film created by filmmaking team Lauren Meeker, Alyson Hummer, and Madelyn Colonna. This concert is made possible by Unison Arts Center and New York State Council of the Arts Individual composer commissioning grant.

Student Managed Investment Fund 2022 Conference

New Paltz Business students are currently attending the 2022 conference in Chicago, in a trip sponsored by Northwest Mutual. The purpose of the consortium is to enhance student learning and scholarship, record best practices in investment management among SMIF partners, provide a vehicle for student networking and exchange of ideas, and provide a permanent repository of relevant literature and recorded student experiences. The SMIF Consortium builds a community of institutions with a shared vision for student success and leadership in investing. The SMIF Consortium also establishes relationships with industry partners to assist in its primary goals of student education, research, and leadership.
