Adolescent Ed Major Supports Maya Gold Foundation Over Winter Break
Maryanna Plate, a major in Adolescent Education at SUNY and a Hudson Valley native, wanted to give back to her community and support local youth over her winter break. Maryann approached the Maya Gold Foundation, whose mission is to "empower youth to access their inner wisdom and realize their dreams."
The Maya Gold Foundation works with youth in the Hudson Valley and in Nepal to develop emotional resilience, offer educational programming, and support anti-trafficking efforts.
Maryanna offered her excellent writing and research skills to the Foundation, producing a library of social media posts that the Foundation can use over the coming months. She also attended several meetings of the Board of the Foundation and learned about non-profit functioning and governance.
