Veronica Aviles inducted into the SUNY New Paltz chapter of Sigma Iota Alpha

Veronica Aviles of Bronx, N.Y. is a member of the SUNY New Paltz chapter of Sigma Iota Alpha.

The Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha was founded in 1990 at SUNY Albany, SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY New Paltz and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The sisterhood focuses on offering women an opportunity to unite in the interest of leadership, community service, and women empowerment. Sigma Iota Alpha strives to increase awareness of the Latino culture, promote sisterhood and leadership, serve as role models and achieve academic excellence.

As a member of Sigma Iota Alpha, Veronica gains leadership skills through chapter development, officer roles, governing opportunities and training programs. In addition, Sigma Iota Alpha gives back to the local community through community service and philanthropic events every year.

The Fraternity and Sorority Community at the State University of New York at New Paltz is dedicated to the ideals of friendship, scholarship, leadership, and service to the campus and community.

Students may participate in the New Member Education Program of a fraternity or a sorority after successfully completing at least 12 credits at SUNY New Paltz, and having a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher.
