Sheryl Cruz inducted into the SUNY New Paltz chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon

Sheryl Cruz is a member of the SUNY New Paltz chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon.

The Hermandad de Sigma Lambda Upsilon was founded in 1987 at Binghamton University. Sigma Lambda Upsilon prides itself as an organization of diverse collegiate and professional women dedicated to uplifting traditionally marginalized groups, specifically Latinos and women, by serving as a voice and means of empowerment. The Hermandad demonstrates its passion through the Sorority's goals of academic excellence, leadership, sisterhood, cultural enrichment, and service to the community and campus.The organization encompasses chapters at over 50 top colleges and universities, as well as national graduate membership that encompasses major cities in the U.S.

As a member of Sigma Lambda Upsilon, Sheryl gains leadership skills through chapter development, officer roles, governing opportunities and training programs. In addition, Sigma Lambda Upsilon gives back to the local community through community service and philanthropic events every year.

The Fraternity and Sorority Community at the State University of New York at New Paltz is dedicated to the ideals of friendship, scholarship, leadership, and service to the campus and community.

Students may participate in the New Member Education Program of a fraternity or a sorority after successfully completing at least 12 credits at SUNY New Paltz, and having a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher.
