Meagan Towler Inducted into Alpha Kappa Phi at SUNY New Paltz

2017 Mar 17

Meagan Towler is a member of the SUNY New Paltz chapter of Alpha Kappa Phi.

The Fraternity and Sorority Community at the State University of New York at New Paltz is dedicated to the ideals of friendship, scholarship, leadership, and service to the campus and community.

As a member of Alpha Kappa Phi, Meagan gains leadership skills through chapter development, officer roles, governing opportunities and training programs. In addition, Alpha Kappa Phi gives back to the local community through community service and philanthropic events year after year. Fraternities and sororities provide members with a family experience while here at college. Alpha Kappa Phi members share a strong bond and deep friendship that only a sorority can provide.

The Alpha chapter of the Alpha Kappa Phi sorority was formed in 1892 as the Agonian Fraternity in Geneseo, N.Y. The purpose of this organization is to promote moral, intellectual and democratic living among members of this organization and the College through membership and leadership in college activities, to cooperate with the administration in the maintenance of high social standards and to stimulate social attitudes and behavior in all aspects of college life.

Students may participate in the New Member Education Program of a fraternity or a sorority after successfully completing at least 12 credits at SUNY New Paltz, and having a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher
