Kayla McKeveny Named SUNYAC Women's Field Hockey Player of the Week

2016 Oct 7

Kayla McKeveny of Holbrook, NY named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Field Hockey Player of the Week honors for fall 2016 season.

Both players helped lead the Hawks (6-2, 3-0 SUNYAC) to a 2-0 conference weekend, defeating Brockport (W, 6-1) and SUNY Geneseo (W, 5-1) on the road.

McKeveny notched a pair of goals at Geneseo on Saturday and during the match, she passed Danielle Conklin '14 for second on the program's all-time goal scoring list.

With her 36 career goals, McKeveny now only trails Dani Ackerman '16, a current assistant coach on the team, who accumulated 39 goals during her career. For the weekend, McKeveny recorded five points and 11 shots (nine on goal).

Roemer helped the New Paltz defense allow just two goals this weekend. Offensively, Roemer tallied two goals against the Golden Eagles while adding an assist versus the Knights. In total, Roemer fired off seven shots while limiting the opposition to just 13 shots on goal.
