Igor Ramirez of New York, N.Y. is a member of the SUNY New Paltz chapter of Lambda Upsilon Lambda.

Lambda Upsilon Lambda is an American fraternity aimed at male Americans of Hispanic or South American origin. It was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. in 1982. They take a role in meeting the needs of the Latino community through cultural awareness, community service, and the promotion of Latino culture and its diverse peoples. La Unidad Latina maintains a firm commitment to empower and enrich every community wherein one finds Latinidad.

As a member of Lambda Upsilon Lambda, Igor gains leadership skills through chapter development, officer roles, governing opportunities and training programs. In addition, Lambda Upsilon Lambda gives back to the local community through community service and philanthropic events every year.

The Fraternity and Sorority Community at the State University of New York at New Paltz is dedicated to the ideals of friendship, scholarship, leadership, and service to the campus and community.

Students may participate in the New Member Education Program of a fraternity or a sorority after successfully completing at least 12 credits at SUNY New Paltz, and having a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher.
