Abigail Shaffer presents Honors Senior Thesis

SUNY New Paltz graduating senior Abigail Shaffer of Manhasset, N.Y. presented an Honors Program senior thesis at the end of the fall 2016 semester.

The Honors Program challenges exceptional students to undertake independent research projects, with close faculty mentorship, and present that work in a formal setting before an audience of peers.

Shaffer, who's major area of study is Digital Media Production, gave a presentation titled "Rapunzel Lost Her Hair: Social Constructs of Femininity as Related to Alopecia and Other Hair Loss Issues" .

The mission of the SUNY New Paltz Honors Program is to provide an enhanced intellectual experience in a climate conducive to interaction among highly motivated students and faculty. This experience will seek to develop and intensify skills from a conceptual point of view in a diverse multidisciplinary analytical environment that nurtures independent thinking, creativity, respect and social responsibility.
